Getting Married at Parc Broekhuizen – A Wedding Photographer’s Dream Venue.
Over the years, I’ve had the joy of capturing many weddings at Parc Broekhuizen. This venue is without a doubt, one of the most beautiful and elegant wedding venues in the Netherlands. Nestled in the heart of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, this historic estate is a seamless blend of classic grandeur and modern luxury. The château-like main building is surrounded by tranquil parklands, a mirrored pond, and old trees that glow golden in the evening light.
Parc Broekhuizen is not just a picture-perfect venue. It’s also incredibly practical for a full wedding weekend. You and your closest guests can stay overnight in their stylish suites, and celebrate with world-class food at their Michelin-starred restaurant. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to offer comfort and timeless beauty.
The Perfect Start: Getting Ready in Style
The bridal morning at Parc Broekhuizen feels like a dream. The bride usually gets ready in the breathtaking bridal suite. A spacious, light-filled room with high ceilings, elegant decor, and large windows that bathe the space in soft natural light—ideal for beautiful, serene getting-ready photos.
The groom often prepares in the “Schilderijen kamer (paintings room).” This is a smaller space decorated with paintings and darker tones, creating a more masculine, intimate vibe. It’s the perfect setting for tying a tie with your best man, a toast of whisky, and a few quiet moments before the day begins.

A Memorable First Look on one of the Grand Staircases
Parc Broekhuizen offers countless stunning backdrops for a first look, but to use one of the staircases is one of my favorites. There’s something magical about the moment the groom looks up to see his bride descending the stairs. It’s elegant, cinematic, and emotionally powerful.
Pro Tip: Ask your florist to decorate the staircase with floral arrangements. Whether lush greenery or romantic blooms, it adds an extra layer of beauty and makes this moment even more unforgettable in your wedding photos.

Couple Portraits, Quiet Moments Before the Celebration
If you’re planning a first look, I highly recommend scheduling your couple portraits right afterwards. One of the great advantages of this timing is that the estate grounds are still quiet, before guests arrive and the festivities begin, offering a peaceful atmosphere for just the two of you.
Parc Broekhuizen is full of stunning spots for portraits. Taking portraits early also means you’ll have more time later in the day to be fully present with your guests.

The Ceremony – Elegant Spaces for Every Wedding Style
Parc Broekhuizen offers multiple beautiful locations for your wedding ceremony. Whether you’re dreaming of an intimate indoor setting or a romantic outdoor celebration.
For smaller weddings or when the weather calls for an indoor option, the Salon is absolutely breathtaking. This room exudes timeless elegance with its soaring ceilings, ornate golden French mirror, and walls adorned with grand paintings of classic Dutch landscapes. The atmosphere is warm, refined, and incredibly photogenic.
If you prefer to say your vows outdoors, there are two fantastic options. For a more intimate feel, the terrace beside Restaurant Voltaire is a lovely spot. It has views over the tranquil pond and lush green surroundings. For larger ceremonies, a setup on the expansive lawn offers a stunning view of the estate itself. Perfect a spacious, open-air celebration.
Whether you’re planning a small, elegant gathering or a larger, festive affair, Parc Broekhuizen offers the flexibility to tailor the ceremony space to your vision.

Cake & Bubbles – A Toast to the Newlyweds
One of the most festive moments of the day is the cake cutting and champagne toast and Parc Broekhuizen offers the perfect backdrop for both.
On warm, sunny days, the area at the base of the grand staircases outside is an ideal spot. It feels like a scene from a European garden party. Imagine your guests gathered around a champagne tower as you pop the bottle, or sharing that sweet moment together as you cut the cake. It’s relaxed, elegant, and full of charm.
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, there’s no need to worry. The Ante-Chambre and the Serre provide a beautiful indoor alternative. These light-filled spaces retain the refined character of the estate and create a cozy yet stylish atmosphere. Perfect for toasting and celebrating with your loved ones.

The Dinner – Intimate Charm or Grand Celebration
Dinner at Parc Broekhuizen is always a highlight—whether you’re hosting an intimate gathering or a larger celebration, there are beautiful settings to suit every style and guest list.
For smaller weddings, the Salon and Blue Room offer an incredibly romantic and refined dining experience. These adjoining spaces are among my absolute favorites on the estate. They’re full of charm, rich in detail, and bathed in soft light. The classic decor, with its muted tones and historic touches, evokes a sense of old world beauty that feels both luxurious and personal.
For larger guest counts, dinner is often held in the Koetshuis, with a more modern design. It’s also the location where most evening parties take place, making it a practical choice for a seamless flow into the night.
Looking for something even more unique? Parc Broekhuizen also offers the possibility to elevate the experience with custom-built tented dinner spaces or modern glasshouses on the estate grounds. These options allow you to fully tailor the atmosphere and create a wow effect your guests won’t forget. Naturally, these custom builds come with a higher investment, but they open up incredible creative possibilities.
Whatever your vision or budget, Parc Broekhuizen offers a dining setting that will leave a lasting impression.

The Party – Celebrate in Style at the Koetshuis
When it’s time to let loose and hit the dance floor, the Koetshuis is the place to be. Just a short walk from the main estate, this beautifully restored carriage house transforms into a lively space for your evening celebration.
While the space is contemporary in design, with the help of a talented stylist or floral designer, it can be completely transformed into a setting that brings your wildest party dreams to life.
It’s also incredibly practical. The Koetshuis is separate from the main estate, which allows for a fresh change of scenery after dinner. This transition builds excitement and gives your guests the feeling of stepping into a new chapter of the celebration.
